New to ER&L?
While ER&L does not have a formal first time attendee program, our team would like to encourage a few items for first time attendees.
Tips for First-Time Attendees
- If possible, arrive earlier on Sunday to come over to the AT&T Center and get your badge and walk the conference space. Locate where the Keynote Session will be, where breakfast is served and where the exhibit hall is located. If you can find those 3 spots and find registration on the main ground floor (“M2” level), you’ll have covered most of the space. 🙂
- Attend the welcome reception on Sunday. Meet by registration and we can walk you over to the Perry Castaneda library. Usually a friendly group walks over about 5 minutes before the start time.
- Review the ER&L track highlights from our committee members (who run the peer review) to get a sense of the most anticipated sessions. This can help you navigate the program and get you orientated to the scope of the program.
- Build your personal schedule on SCHED. You may want an option or even 2 selected for each hour and you can make a call on the day of. (Sched has a nice printable feature if you want to print your schedule out with the session details). If you need any help getting access to your sched, let us know.
- If you’re not sure what you’ll be doing for lunch, register for one of the hosted luncheons. You’ll meet people where you’re sitting and it’s nice not to have to worry about finding that meal in the middle of the day.
- Attend a silly, social/ wellness or crowd favorite session, like Battledecks (powerpoint karaoke), the 5K Fun Run/ Walk or Jeopardy ER&L Edition. It can be silly to do one of these fun sessions, but it sure is so nice to laugh along with people who get ‘it.’
- Depending on your role and your experience, you may want to look at the audience level filter on sched. Foundational tagged sessions are a great starting point. On sched, look under “filter by type” on the right, the little tag at the bottom reads “audience level.”
- Finally, ER&L sessions are all recorded. So, if you want to attend a social event or linger with a presenter post Q&A or in the exhibit hall, that’s totally ok! You’ll have access to the online platform before ER&L even starts. So, you’ll have access to where all the videos are collecting for you to review after the conference and for a year after.
