Excel is a valuable tool for eResource librarians – from workflow support, to usage data gathering and analysis, to demonstrating library impact. Unfortunately, many of us can’t fit in the time in our day-to-day work to learn advanced Excel techniques that would make us more efficient and effective. In this workshop, attendees will learn a variety of techniques and best practices ranging from general data cleanup tips and tricks, to more advanced topics such as queries, merges, and using data to tell a visual story with charts.
Following the workshop, participants will be able to:
- manipulate and analyze excel data to answer questions about their library services and resources.
- present data in a meaningful way to stakeholders.
AUDIENCE LEVEL: Intermediate
PARTICIPATION:
Course participants will consume the videos on their own schedule during the dates of the conference. Live Office Hours will be hosted during the 2 weeks where participants are encouraged to share their progress (dates TBD). Students will upload homework to a folder that is shared with the instructors where instructors can comment and answer individual questions. A discussion board will be utilized.
COURSE OUTLINE:
To be shared with registered course attendees prior to course start date.
