Join our workshop to immerse yourself in user research using primary and secondary mock data. Dive into user testing methodologies, card sorts, and tree tests to make data-driven improvements to your library website. Attendee Participation:
This course will be a mix of practical demonstrations and interactive elements. Attendees will break into groups of three to four, wherein each individual will take turns being a researcher, an observer, and a participant.
Meet Your Course Instructors

Atishi Batra
User Experience Designer
Indiana University Bloomington
Atishi Batra is the User Experience Designer at Indiana University Libraries. Since stepping into this role in August 2022, she has spearheaded transformative efforts across the main website and blogs for Bloomington Libraries. Currently, her focus is on implementing a new university-wide design system and enhancing the website’s accessibility and user-centricity. Atishi also collaborates with various departments within the Libraries, sharing her UX expertise to empower them to create intuitive and user-friendly experiences for students. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new trails, crocheting cozy wearables, and baking delicious sourdough bread.

Rachael A. Cohen
Discovery Systems Librarian, Head of Discovery and User Experience
Indiana University Bloomington
In her role as Discovery Systems Librarian, Rachael Cohen serves as the Product Owner for the user experience of IUCAT (IU’s shared systemwide library catalog), OneSearch@IU, and the IU Libraries’ website search. This work includes activities such as collecting and prioritizing enhancement requests, drafting technical requirements, testing new features, and validating code releases. Rachael’s research interests include user experience, search query analysis, and discovery tools. She has published and presented nationally on topics related to these interests.
She received a dual Master’s degree in Library Science and Information Science from IU Bloomington in 2012, and earned her B.S. in Educational Media and Technology from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Prior to joining the IU Libraries, Rachael served as the Director of the Grand Forks, North Dakota Air Force Base Library.
