BIG QUESTIONS ON THE LIVE STREAM
10:00 am – 11:30 am CT
What does our ‘new normal’ look like?
The pandemic disrupted everyone’s lives, challenging us to create a new normal in life and at work. We want to reflect on what this new world looks like. We’ll start with a big picture view of how we see each other, how we collaborate, how we learn, and what shifts have happened in our larger communities. Then, we will dig into some specific examples, such as engaging with users, training new staff, and managing collections. These three talks will be followed by a group panel Q&A on our big question.
12:00 pm – 1:20 pm CT
How has our work changed?
Change is typical in managing e-resources but the last two years have brought new and dramatic shifts to our ecosystem. From working remotely to new user needs and delivery methods, the way in which we conduct business has changed. This has impacted our operations, business relationships, budgets, and processes. We will explore best practices, case studies, and lessons learned across all aspects of the e-resource lifecycle. These three talks will be followed by a group panel Q&A on our big question.
1:20 – 1:40 pm CT
What’s New from ProQuest and Ex Libris
Live sponsored presentation with Jim Lynch, Head of Sales at ProQuest Ex Libris, Part of Clarivate, to share what’s new for academic libraries and answer questions.
2:00 pm – 3:30 pm CT
How do we demonstrate our values?
Librarianship comes with values that many of us strive to incorporate in our work. We will explore the ways in which we are opening and expanding access to e-resources as well as consider the environmental impact of digital collections in our libraries. These presentations will grapple with our responsibility to protect user privacy, how we center student users in our profession, and the ways in which we can create open and equitable access to information. These three talks will be followed by a group panel Q&A on our big question.
