What makes ER&L a success is the hard work of a group of volunteers who dedicate time to plan the ER&L Conference. Each volunteer signs up for a one or two year commitment to work on a committee. Participating in ER&L planning requires a strong commitment. Please contact us at eresources.info@gmail.com with your areas of interest and your qualifications for membership. Below are committee descriptions and responsibilities.
Local Logistics Committee
- Description: This committee plays a key role in the success of the event. They are the on-the-ground volunteers coordinating conference space, volunteers, and local preparations starting in June/July and working through the event.
- Responsibilities: Coordinate local conference planing including conference space, catering, events with Conference Coordinator and assistant.
Program Planning Committee
- Description: This committee creates the programming.
- Responsibilities: Draft Call, Review submissions, Oversea Lightning Talks and Roundtable Discussion formats, create program tracks, organize schedule, invite Keynote and Invited Speakers
Pre-Conference Program Planning Subcommittee of Program Planning Committee
- Description: This committee focuses on the unique needs of pre-conference sessions, often different from regular programs.
- Responsibilities: Draft Call for Pre-Conference Proposals, Review Pre-Conference proposals, Coordinate reimbursements and details between Conference Coordinator and Presenters, Work closely with Local Logistics Committee to find appropriate spaces to hold sessions.
Sponsorship Committee
- Description: This committee is critical in helping to fund the ER&L Conference's activities by creating relationships with potential sponsors and promoting the conference as a worthwhile invest of their sponsorship money and time.
- Responsibilities: Create conference sponsorship opportunities, create agreements and promotional materials, contact potential sponsors, follow-up with sponsors as necessary, great sponsors and thank them in person for working with the committee. Answer any questions they have when setting up for the Sponsors' Reception.
Promotion & Marketing Committee
- Description: This committee will work closely with the Conference Coordinator to put in place ER&L's Marketing Plan
- Responsibilities: Create marketing material and distribute promotional material in appropriate places.
Awards Committee
- Description: This committee will provide awards and/or grants to students, staff and librarians to attend the in-person conference.
- Responsibilities: Create award application, Create a call for Award submissions, review applications, contact winners, promote winners, host an event or greeting of award winners at the conference, help arrange award distribution
Website Committee
- Description: Consisting of two people, this committee makes sure all web content and communication is viewable online in a timely fashion. This committee is asked to think creatively and use new tools and technologies to spread the word about ER&L.
- Responsibilities: Post up-to-date content in wiki and blog, manage and update facebook site
Online Educational Content Committee
- Description: This new committee with work closely with the Conference Coordinator to think creatively about additional ER&L-sponsored online content such as webinars, panel discussions, and online courses.
- Responsibilities: Brainstorm ideas, coordinate with program planning and pre-conference planning, evaluate online conference software options, etc.
